Week 17: We're Back
It's been a good vacation overall. We're all darker and more relaxed. We've all done a good amount of reading. Surprisingly ( or maybe not ) we hit the beach only twice. The first, well you know, ended up with a trip to the ER. The second one was a bit smoother but the undertow was pretty intense and Katie panicked a couple of times (as did Mom ... what a shocker). So we kept to the pool and other activities ... which I think worked out just fine for us.
During our trip, there was an addition to the family ... a new niece (7 weeks early). I'm actually going to the Baby Shower today. There was a lot of concern for her but she seems to be doing well (as is Mom) ... any and all positive vibes would be appreciated. At this point Andrew is the only Testosterone carrying progeny of both blood lines ... all his siblings and cousins are girls LOL He doesn't seem to mind ... he's really good with all the little ones :)
I finished Eclipse on the ride home. It surprises me how into the read I was even though I'm not such a huge fan of the series. I don't like Bella (the main character), neither of the male leads attract me, but still something about the books draws me in. Thinking about it during the drive I think it's the fact that this series is unlike any other fantasy novels I've read. It focuses on the inner workings of the characters. The "main" conflicts of the stories are not deep and convoluted ... they're pretty superficial actually. The books delve deep, however, into the relationships and that, for me, is new in this genre. And I guess I like it ... 'cause I'm very excited that the stories will continue :)
I guess that's it for now ... off to continue unpacking :)
