Week 14: A Little Whining With My Packing

It's finally that time of year again. In a short while we're hitting the road and going to Delaware! Of course this means that we've got to pack first. And that, well it ain't fun.

Actually every year it gets easier and easier. I no longer panic, having gone through this enough times and the kids take care of their stuff themselves now that they are older. Also a few years back I put together a list that I posted on-line (so I'd never lose it again) which, come to think of it, really needs to be edited. I mean, really, my kids don't use coloring books anymore, they're all about Mad Libs!

Even though things are easier, I still dread this preparation time. I hate getting there and realizing I forgot something simple, like a can opener. That type of a *duh* tends to bug me through-out the vacation. ( I know it's stupid ... but I'm just wired that way :( ) So although I don't panic anymore, there's still a low level anxiety that precedes this trip ... and I really can't wait to hit the road and accept that I've done all I can and live with it.

I really need this vacation. It's not been an easy year, physically or emotionally. There have been issues with my health (asthma and migraines primarily) and although I'm very happily married this year has been rough in that quarter also. I feel bad complaining about this side of things because he's a wonderful guy but his work has taken a bit of him away from me and he doesn't realize it. The thing to remember is that the business is his and it's doing well. Anybody who's ever run their own business knows ... when things are going well that's the time when you've got to work extra hard! So I understand but sometimes, understanding isn't enough for a wife. I've let him know my concerns but am working really hard not to nag, that's the last thing the guy needs. But I'm seriously looking forward to these two weeks, I want that time with my hubby when I can look at him and KNOW that I've got more than 20 percent of him with me!
