Week 11d: I'm an Idiot
I love to listen to podcasts. I listen when I'm cleaning the house, when I'm driving, when I'm cooking, often when I'm at work and occasionally when I'm out shopping. At home I have a cute little iHome2Go that I carry around with me from room to room. On the road I simply plug it in to the car stereo system. And at work and when shopping I use a pair of headphones.
I have ONE pair of headphones and when I switch purses I just move the headphones as well as the rest of my junk. That is when I remember to do so! Guess what I've been forgetting lately. Two workdays in a row now *grrrr* It wouldn't be such a problem if my job didn't occasionally require me to do some very repetitive tasks, like, say, drying, grinding and sieving 50 samples *rolleyes* It gets so ridiculously boring and the podcasts made it bearable! I guess I should have a pair of headphones at work ... so this wouldn't happen ... but I don't. See .... IDIOT. I'm fixing this situation today right after work!
Switching gears completely now. I just finished Storm Front, the first book in The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I thought the story was very good and the suspense and action built nicely as the story went along but the writing wasn't very smooth. I could definitely tell when Jim was having trouble with a scene or when he was really rolling. That seriously hampered my ability to get into the story. I'll probably read one more of these books just because the universe is intriguing enough and to give Jim the benefit of the doubt.
Speaking of The Dresden Files, it seems that we're not going to get a season 2 of the series on the Sci-Fi channel. At this point there's no confirmation on the cancellation speculation but things haven't been looking too good for this show for some time now :( If this is actually true I will definitely be disappointed. I like the show. I like the actors and the story lines.
OK, off to pout now. Oh, yeah, here's a pic of my little iHome2Go:
I'm happy to report that the speakers on the thing, though small, offer a very nice sound for both podcasts and music :)
